Land of the Remembered
24” x 36”
acrylic on canvas
Navreet Dhillon, MD

This painting is a tribute to Dr Kamal Charaipotra, the beloved grandfather of Dr Dhillon’s niece Kavya. From Dr Dhillon: “Dr Kamal was a much loved and respected pediatrician. My painting is a celebration of his vibrant and charismatic personality. His name, Kamal, meaning lotus flower in Punjabi, is the central bloom in the painting.” Dr Dhillon’s painting is also a meditation on Kavya’s solace that those who pass become stars in the sky, part of the energy around us, and live on in our memories. Dr Dhillon is a Primary Care Physician at the Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center in CA. More of Dr Dhillon’s  work can be seen at: www.facebook.com/poppyjasperarts and on page 35 of this issue of The Permanente Journal.
