"sub quandum aeternitatus" (Under a Certain Form of Eternity)
by Dorothy Faison, MBA, MFA (aka Dorothy Meder),
is oil and mixed media on hammered copper (9.5" x 7.5"). This work is from a series
of paintings similar in scale and material to paintings of Spanish Colonial saints
from the 16th and 17th centuries from South America. Ms Faison works to
"combine the power, mystery, and purpose of primitive tribal art and medieval icons within the
context of contemporary painting and life."
She is a recipient of an NEA Award in Painting from the Western States Arts Federation and an Individual
Artist Fellowship from the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, among other awards. Her
work is displayed in various venues and has been included in numerous publications.
Ms Faison is a senior consultant in the National Market Research Department in the KP Hawaii Region.
