Vernazza is one of five coastal villages on the Italian Riviera known

as the Cinque Terre. The villages are linked by boat and oceanside footpaths,

and further inland by rail through a series of tunnels.

    J Richard Gaskill, MD, is an otolaryngologist at the KP Medical Center in Santa Clara, CA. His interests include hiking, skiing, biking, photography, travel and trying to write poetry.
